Colleen, the same as her husband Omar Portillo, has recently graduated from the Diploma of Professional Counseling (DPC) program at Pacific Life Bible College (PLBC), as well as having been ordained as a Minister with the Christian Ministers Association (CMA).  Her counseling style is that of eclectic in nature, drawing from such perspectives as Christian counseling (drawing upon Holy Spirit guidance), Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Adlerian, Family Systems, Existential, Reality and Gestalt approaches.

Colleen has received her candidate status with the Canadian Professional Counselors Association (CPCA), working towards her full Registered Professional Counselor (RPC) designation.  She is also an active member with the Canadian Christian Addiction Ministry Providers (CCAMP) and will be pursuing her registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Additionally, Colleen has obtained a diploma in Massage Therapy from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH).  She worked as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), self-employed, owning and managing her own practices, as well as working alongside colleagues in various other clinical settings for a total of 15 years.  Further, she has also had her first year in a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree (BScN), along with her Standard First Aid and CPR training.  She has also obtained WHMIS and food safe training from her past food service positions at two restaurants.

Her overall heart’s desire is for all people, from all varying backgrounds and cultures, especially those confronted with the “pains of this life.”  With past behavioural addictions being forefront in her life and substance abuse problems in those most near and dear to her, God has equipped her to understand what it is like to numb these pains in very unsatisfying and empty ways.  By the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, both she and two of her family members are free from the perils of their addictions.  It is her hope and passion, to work with the women facing this journey with their loved ones both on an individual basis, as well as in the realm of family systems, working towards the unification and overall health of the home.
